Disposition (2019) is a ceramic series part of a larger body of work documenting my self-perception over the years. As I struggle to find who the real Aubrey is, I’ve created works that showcase my attempts to piece together my identity. This documentation began late into my sophomore year, and has since continued to evolve. As I have begun to apply ceramic processes to my work, the vulnerability of the photos is more apparent in the fragility of clay. The comparison between my depicted disposability and the false permanence of the ceramic object has lent itself to new connotations within the series.
My self-esteem is that of clay. Solidified with great difficulty, but broken with ease.
